Combining Ability and Heterosis of Algerian Saharan Maize Populations (Zea mays L.) for Tolerance to No-Nitrogen Fertilization and Drought

چکیده
Drought and low nitrogen are major stresses for maize (Zea mays L.), populations from the Sahara Desert potential sources of stress tolerance. The objectives were to assess tolerance varietal heterosis effects Algerian under no-nitrogen fertilization water stress. A diallel among six population was evaluated drought (300 mm irrigation) vs. control (600 mm) 120 kh ha?1 N fertilization. Genotypes showed significant differences genetic water- nitrogen-stress We propose a reciprocal recurrent selection take advantage additive non-additive effects, using AOR IGS, since they good performance in optimum conditions, improving yield × IGS. Negative not expected on plant height, anthesis–silking interval or early vigor. These BAH could be inbred lines tolerant There no relationship between origin group per se as parents crosses. crosses used base material populations, breeding programs focusing

COMBINING ABILITY AND HETEROSIS IN MAIZE (Zea mays L.)
A line × tester analysis was conducted in maize involving 12 lines and 3 testers for grain yield and its components to determine the heterosis as well as general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) effects. Highly significant genotypic differences were observed indicated wide range of variability present among the genotypes. GCA and SCA variance for yield per plant numb...
متن کاملT Evaluation of genes effect and combining ability in selected maize (Zea mays L.) lines
Maize is one of the most important grain and forage plants that has a unique role in the food and feed, especially poultry feed. To study the genetic effects, genes act and identify the best hybrid combination for morphological traits, experiment was carried out in diallel cross layout using 19 parents at Gorgan Agricultural Research Station, Iran in 2013. The progenies were planted in three re...
متن کاملMaize (Zea mays L.) Response to Nitrogen Fertilizer under Drought Stress at Vegetative and Reproductive Stages
In the sub-tropics, water and nitrogen are the most important factors limiting the grain yield of maize. The effect of nitrogen (N) rates and drought stress at different growth stages of maize were investigated. Nitrogen treatments consisted of 100, 150, and 200 kgN.ha-1 from the urea source while water stress treatments were composed of irrigation-off since the early 10-leaf stage to emergenc...
متن کاملHeterosis and Combining ability Studies for Sugar content in Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata L.)
The present investigation has been undertaken in sweet corn to carry out the combining ability analysis and to estimate heterosis of yield and yield contributing characters. Eight divergent parents were selected and crossed in diallel fashion excluding reciprocals during kharif, 2010. The resulting 28 crosses along with parents and a standard check Sugar 75 and Madhuri were evaluated in Randomi...
